Conference Themes
Read about the themes we'll be exploring during CFC 2011 Conference: A World of Opportunity...
1. What Unites Us?
A time to reflect on what brings us together as citizens and as communities: What values do we share and how can we sustain those values that mean the most to us? What gives us a sense of belonging? This is the beginning, the bedrock on which all our discussions will be based. We’ll bring our communities closer together by celebrating what makes us special and building on our shared passions.
2. Where Are We Now?
A snapshot of where we find ourselves in 2011: What forces are shaping our daily reality and what does it mean for the future? This is the place where we set the context, so we can set our course. Here we will separate fact from fiction. The ‘significant’ from the spin. We’ll explore the driving forces of change, the key issues facing our communities and how we can live our values in the midst of calm or chaos.
3. Relationships in an Accelerated World
It’s time for a little "face time". Let’s re-evaluate our relationships: How are we managing these vital connections in a world that’s short on time and hooked on technology? Is our intricate web of networks stretched too thin? We’ll review (and maybe rewrite) the rules of engagement for key connections with government, regulators, donors, funders, and grantees – to name just a few.
4. Wicked Problems, Bold Solutions
A place for the bold, brave and unbowed: We’re making space to share strategies for tackling the big issues facing our communities and our world. Are opportunities lurking behind those seemingly insoluble problems? We’ll discuss the nagging problems and emerging issues, showcasing innovation and celebrating the rewards (and lessons) that come with taking risks.
5. Awakening the Assets Within
Our chance to dig deeper and fully discover all of the assets at our disposal: How can we leverage the resources connected to our work to better support our communities? From the latest practices trends in investing, to maximizing our human resources and modeling sustainability, it’s all about unleashing our potential.
